Integrated effect of biocides and fungicides on sclerotlal germination of Sclerotinia seleratiorum (Lib.) was studied under in vitro conditions. MBC and Bayleton reduced sclerotial germination with an increase in dipping duration at higher concentration. At 100 μg/ml, ten and twenty min. dipping in MBC and Bayleton respectively, caused complete inhibition of sclerotlal germination. Complete kill of sclerotia was obtained with MBC at 5 μg/ml with 10 min. dip and 4 × 108 spores/ml of Trichoderma harzianum Rifai whereas 15 min. dip was required for the same effect with Bayleton. A combination of presoaking, high temperature, treatment with MBC and Bayleton and three biocontrol agents significantly reduced sclerotlal viability. Complete inhibition or sclerotial germination was obtained with T. harzianum and Gliocladium roseum with the highest spore density(4 × 108 spores/ml) at 50 and 55 °C.Keywords

White rot of pea caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) is a serious menace in Kangra valley of Himachal Pradesh. The pathogen is polyphagous and soil borne, therefore, difficult to control through fungicides and host resistance. Because of the limitations in the use of fungicides as well as to minimize the pollution hazards, use of fungal antagonists as biocontrol agents against S. sclerotiorum was deemed very important. Keeping in view these aspects, present investigations were, undertaken.Keywords

Background: Prakriti has important role in prevention, diagnosis, treatment of disease and forecast of future disorders. Infants are more prone to develop various health problems like infections, due to poor immune system. This study shows relation between infantile age morbidity and their Prakriti (physical constitution) in present scenario. Material and Methods: For this longitudinal study 100 infants were registered for Prakriti assessment and their relationship with incidence of diseases. Performa for Prakriti assessment in infants was developed by Department of Kaumarbhritya/Balroga and Department of Kriya Sharira. This study was conducted in Kaumarbhritya OPD, SS Hospital, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Observation and Result: In the present study, rate of morbidity in infantile age was found maximum in Vata Prakriti (6.6 episodes/infant/year) and minimum in Kapha Prakriti (1.54 episodes/infant/year). Incidence of morbidity was 2.41 episodes/infant/year. The commonest morbidities were respiratory tract infections (40.66%) and diarrhea (30.29%). Respiratory tract infection is most common morbidity in Vata Prakriti (33.3%), Kapha Prakriti (73.5%), Vata-Pitta Prakriti (48.1%) and Vata Kapha Prakriti (53.3%) infants. Diarrhea was the most common morbidity in Pitta Prakriti (32.2%) and Pitta-Kapha Prakriti (50.0%) infants. Discussion and Conclusion: Rate of morbidity was found more in Vata Prakriti and less in Kapha Prakriti infants which justifies the concept of Ayurveda that feature of Vata Prakriti is Shighravikara and Kapha Prakriti have Ashighravikara. Vata and Kapha Prakriti infants mostly suffer from respiratory tract infection and Pitta Prakriti infants mostly suffer from diarrhea. In present study incidence of morbidity was 2.41 episodes/infant/year and most common morbidity was respiratory tract infection and diarrhea.Keywords

Introduction: Mother’s milk is considered to be the supreme food for neonates, infants and toddler. It is also regarded as the finest gift form a mother to her baby. The individual characteristic of a person enumerating external and internal body features is known as Prakriti. It is the sense of personality or constitution or temperament of an individual. The aim of the present study was to assess “variations of human milk composition as per Prakriti”. Materials and Methods: Total 64 lactating mothers of 20-35 years age group, not suffering from any acute or chronic illness and who were on similar diet regardless of their mode of delivery were registered and included in the study while lactating mothers not falling in this age group or who were taking any specific drug for the illness or suffering from any disease including- moderate (9.97-7 g/dl) to severe (6.94-4 g/dl) anemia were excluded from the study. Result: On applying One Way ANOVA, the mean values of fat percentage in milk varied significantly as per Prakriti (p = 0.0287). On applying Post Hoc Test the significant pairs were for Vata vs. Pitta (<0.05) and Vata vs Kapha (<0.05) Prakriti. In all other parameters of milk, no significant variation was found. Conclusion: We can conclude that the composition of mother’s milk varies as per Prakriti.Keywords
